A newborn girl may have little bloody discharge from her vagina. This is often normal and results from the absence of the mother’s hormones which the baby got while in the mother’s womb.

What you can do

1. Gently clean out the blood with clean cloth
2. Do not clean deep into the baby’s vagina
3. Use warm water only to clean, no soaps
4. The bleeding usually stops within 5 to 7 days, however, take your baby to a doctor all the same, especially if the bleeding is heavy/much or if foul smelling.
