Sometimes, a woman gets pregnant while nursing a baby. This can occur especially if a nursing mother use no family planning method.

1. It is SAFE to breastfeed your baby while pregnant. It is safe for the mother and the baby
2. Your milk is safe for the breastfeeding child though small amounts of pregnancy hormones get to the baby through the breast milk.
3. The hormone oxytocin released during breastfeeding is too small, so it does not cause miscarriage or premature labour. It is thus safe for the new pregnancy.
4. It is important that you reduce stress and increase your food intake to effectively nurse your baby and still carry the new pregnancy
5. It is also safe to nurse the 2 children, called tandem nursing
6. Your antenatal care should be regular and often
