What you may notice

1. You may pass cloudy foul-smelling urine
2. Pain while urinating
3. Increase in the urge and rate of urination
4. Inability to delay the urge to urinate or to hold urine.

What may have caused it

1. It is common in women, and more in pregnant women
2. Women with vaginal infection or sexually transmitted infection
3. Poor toilet habit
4. Poor hygiene

How to prevent urine infection

1. Fluid intake; take at least 3 liters of water a day
2. Do not delay the urge to urinate
3. Keep your private part clean
4. Urinate and clean up before and after sexual intercourse

Visit a doctor for test and treatment; this may include urine and blood tests, and appropriate antibiotics.
