Here are tips on how to quit
- Set a date to quit, pick a memorable day e.g. your child’s birthday
- Communicate your decision to your friends and family, get their support
- Talk to your friends that smoke, but don’t bank on their support
- Make a list of the places and the activities during which you smoke, gradually avoid such places, and reduce such activities
- Gradually reduce the number of cigarettes sticks you smoke in a day, set a daily and weekly reduction target
- Reward yourself when your target is achieved
- Seek help/encouragement from your spiritual leader
- Consult your doctor, he may recommend nicotine replacement gum or patches
