WHAT TO DO FOLLOWING SCORPION BITE
Most scorpion bites in healthy individuals are not dangerous, only cause pain, pepperish or tingling sensation at the site.
What you can do in case of a bite
- Wash the site with soap and water
- Put ice / ice pack on the site of bite
- Keep calm, limit movement of the site of bite e.g. limit leg movement if the bite site is on the leg
- Use painkiller e.g. ibuprofen or paracetamol
- Use antihistamine e.g. piriton, loratadine

Do not
- Incise or cut the site of bite with blade, it doesn’t reduce or extract the venom
- Tie cloth above the site: it can reduce the blood supply to the lower part and make the limb to die
- Apply petrol to the site
- Do not suck the site of bite
See your doctor especially if
- Your face feels flush
- Your limb e.g., leg is weak
- Your breathing is difficult
- The site of bite is the head
- The person is a child
