MIGRAINE: TRIGGERS AND TREATMENT
A migraine is a pulsating headache occurring usually on one side of the head, but can involve both sides of the head.
What you may notice
- Aura: these are symptoms that may occur before the headache, for example you may see flashing lights or zig zag lines, you may also notice numbness or tingling sensation.
- Headache on one side of the head
- You may have eye pain
- Tear may drop from the eye(s) or it may make you to cry
- You may vomit
What may trigger migraine?
- Bright or flashing light
- Noise
- Intake of cheese, red wine, alcohol or coffee
- Use of oral contraceptive pills
- Stress
- Cigarette smoking
- Poor sleeping habit
What you can do
- Avoid the triggers as mentioned above
- Find a dark quiet room to lay
- Apply cold pack to the head and neck
- Use a painkiller with or without a sleeping pill
- For people previously diagnosed, you can use cafergot if you have in stock
- Visit your doctor
