- Family pressure
- Job demands or activities
- Loss of a loved one, job or money
- Illness
- Relationship changes
- Long wait in traffic
- Stress may be caused by trivial things; it is not totally possible to tell what can trip someone off
When the stress is much, the person may experience
- Fast heartbeat
- Difficulty with breathing
- Excessive sweating
- Unprovoked anger or sadness
- Headaches, body pain, weakness
- Difficulty with sleep
- Problems with eating
What you can do
- Avoid the identified causes
- Make time out to relax
- Get a hobby
- Practice deep slow breathing
- Do yoga, get a massage, listen to soft music
- Do meditation, pray, or listen to religious messages
- Exercise regularly; it relaxes your muscles and aid sleep
- Learn to accept things that you cannot change
- Seek counseling, talk to your family
- Note that alcohol, smoking and substance abuse do not help.
