How to breastfeed
- It is important to start as soon as the baby is born
- Sit up on a chair that has backrest
- Put the baby on your chest, use one hand to support the back of the baby’s head and the other hand on the baby’s buttocks.
- Then put the baby to breast, not the breast to the baby
- Your nipple and the surrounding dark area (areola) should be in your baby’s mouth
- If you delivered via caesarean section, put a pillow on your lap to support the baby
- You can stop when the child stop sucking or when the child’s tummy is full
- Put the baby up on your chest for some minutes or until he/she belches, then you can lay the baby down
