How do I know I have vaginal infection?
Someone with vaginal infection may notice the following symptoms

- Vulval pain with or without redness
- Vaginal discharge: this may be white cheese-like, yellow, creamy and foul-smelling. You may notice a change in the colour and quantity of your usual discharge. It is normal to have occasional scanty whitish non-foul discharge.
- You may experience lower abdominal pain
- There may be pain while urinating or during sexual intercourse
What may have caused it
- Poor genital hygiene
- Poor cleaning or toilet habit
- Sexual intercourse
- From sharing of toilet
What you may do to prevent it
- Proper genital hygiene: clean your genital(private) part regularly with warm water
- Keep the vaginal area dry and aerated
- Avoid tight leather pants, wear cotton underwear
- Proper toilet habit: clean your buttocks from front to back (away from the vaginal area)
- Do not douche, i.e., do not wash your vagina with soaps or antiseptics.
- Urinate and wash your vagina with warm water after sexual intercourse
- Prevent sexually transmitted infections: abstain from sex, be faithful to a single partner and use a condom.
- It is necessary to ask your sexual mate to see a doctor for possible tests and treatment.
